Gramatik vs. The Beatles – Don’t Let Me Down 2012

Oh Gramatik, how I love you. You never let me down. Showing some Beatles love on this one.

Gramatik, a Slovenian native who landed in the States, is signed to Pretty Lights’ label and has been killing Beatport and other site charts. You can’t really put him into a genre because the style blends.

The Submarines – 1940 (Amplive Remix)

Amp Live is a hip-hop producer and released this remix a while back, although I only discovered it within the past four months or so (from the Coding Soundtrack room on Turntable.fm). I’m not sure how to label this track exactly (except it’s awesome and you should totally listen to it). It’s got a modern-meets-vintage feel to it, which I love and Blake Hazard’s vocals are so earthy and warm. Amp Live picks up the tempo a bit from the original with an obvious hip-hop-inspired beat so you don’t fall asleep (the original does that to me, although it’s great for relaxing to) and he’s layered it well so if you didn’t see it was a remix, you wouldn’t even know. You can get this and other remixes in a special The Submarines remix CD available on iTunes.

I would also recommend The Submarines stuff by themselves too.
